Probably close to 10 years, actually. This one was in kind of rough shape, but it still exists, so...

Is that a Foxbody with the headlights of that decade’s Taurus? :O
Wait, I think those are Escort headlights........Makes sense since it’s an Escort. lol

That’s a 1980s Ford Escort underneath.

I think that the first generation models looked pretty unique, but those look like coupe Escorts (which isn’t far from the truth though).

It’s so weird that Ford made a FWD economy coupe that looked so much like their halo car. I mean the Mustang was the fastest thing Ford made at the time.

These are so rare, and barely get talked about by anyone, that for a while I thought I’d just imagined them...
Nice to see they actually exist, and that ones survived though.

Escort EXP. My aunt had one back in the day. Probably the best looking Escort, followed by the Escort GT. Cosworths not included.

I saw one late last year, in the back of a field next to some woods in the middle of nowhere. It had been years since I saw one before that.

They are quite rare these days. This is only the second one I’ve seen in almost ten years; both the later square headlight models. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the early “frog-eye” model in person before.

Ford Escort EXP: The official car of fake it ‘til you make it.

The pre-facelift EXP looked pretty different from the Mustang when it was introduced. The facelift was meant to “remedy” the polarizing styling and bring it more in line with the Escort of the time in order to increase sales. Needless to say, it didn’t really work.

The American Racing Salt Flats (or reps) on the Grand Marquis? Those are neat looking on that car.

The first generation looked a lot less generic, that’s for sure!

It just goes to show that the Escort could be made to look pretty good.
The Cosworth Escort was technically not an Escort at all, but a Sierra with Escort body panels.

I’ve only seen two (I think), and never the first generation/pre-facelift version.
